Hi, nice to meet you! I'm Martijn and I help film projects find their right musical tone of voice.
I love to find solutions of the beaten paths, because I strongly believe happy accidents elevate any project.
The first notes I played were on the clarinet, but after purchasing an electric guitar, I fell in love with the instrument. With an old microphone amplifier hooked up to a hi-fi speaker I taught myself how to play the guitar.
I grew up in Eindhoven, but moved to Utrecht to study guitar at the Herman Brood Academy in 2010. After graduating from the Herman Brood Academy in 2013 I pursued several other goals like Econometrics and Business Administration, but the love for music kept on lingering.
Being asked to play guitar with singer-songwriter Emil Landman, got me back on track with music. Over the years we have played shows throughout The Netherlands, Belgium, France and China.
In 2018 I co-founded the indie dream pop band FOSS. As a five-piece formation we released our self-titled debut EP in late 2018. In 2019 we recorded and produced their second EP 'All I Ever Wanted', which we released in december 2019. In 2021 we were selected as 'OOR talent' and played Popronde, a festival throughout multiple cities in the Netherlands.
Regaining my focus towards music got me applying for Composition & Music Production at the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU) where I developed my skills as a composer and producer. I also figured out that working on film brings me great joy. I graduated in 2021.
Through my experience within several orchestras and bands I have a broad sense of what can be achieved within sound and music. I have a long time crush on old analog instruments, but I'm not afraid to work in-the-box. I'm always looking for challenges that take me out of my comfort zone while using the right tools for the trade.
